The Legacy of Gifford Pinchot

One of the things you just do when coming to Milford is to visit Grey Towers, our outstanding local historic landmark and childhood home of Gifford Pinchot, known as the founder of the American Conservation movement and the first leader of the US Forest Service.   PBS has put together a great documentary, Seeking the Greatest Good: The Conservation Legacy of Gifford Pinchot. It is playing on 85 local public television channels nationwide. In September 2013, Grey Towers National Historic Site will be commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Gifford Bryce Pinchot’s gift of Grey Towers to the people. John F. Kennedy was at Grey Towers to accept the gift, on behalf of the people. The Pinchot Institute, the Grey Towers Heritage Association and the Forest Service has a full year of activities planned.  Visit http://www.greytowers.org for details.
